Long time no see. I really do not know how to operate this blog. I'd like to invite some of my friends as contributors and to give this blog some kind of orientation, guidance and autonomy. Let´s see if an idea falls on my lap.

You need to think about something you want to do, either personally or in class, that you think the readers will benefit form if they could read it. For example, if you want your students to share their ideas before they write, then have them post their ideas on the blog before they write. If your students don't know much about each other, then have them post their experiences on the blog. If you want other teachers to know about your experiences, then post your own experiences on your blog. Think about all the roles you listed. What do you want to share?

Hi
I follow the above thought. A blog provides the tool for placing thought, opinion; something for others to react to. I have not yet managed to make it work as an effective democratic collaborative device, but if viewed as a platform to initiate response, then you need to provide the stimulous. How?
Well, consider the purpose of the blog: to share ideas, opinions material, to get a task done, to plan. I am not convinced a blog is the best way to do all of the above, but one of my studnet groups has their own small group blog for sharing creative writing and task planning:

Hello, Ana Paula.
Why don´t you start by writing the tasks for week 3 in the EVO Collaborative Writing Session in this blog and you will have to see how it works by using it. There are a couple of tutorials in the Yahoo group you can check out. Let me know if you need help. My mail is bleiva2003@yahoo.com and I will be more than happy to do anything I can to help you. Here is a Youtube video you can watch and you can see related links in that same page.

Best, Berta

Hello Cherepaha, Allyson and Berta,
This blog is alive after all! I've been very busy with marking tests and classes these last two weeks and I haven't done much for this course activities. I have just read your suggestions and I really appreciated your comments. That's one thing with this communication tool: it's exciting because of the fact that there are the most varied responses. Thank you berta for being so helpful with your practical tips which I will follow. I still have the same problem: contributors, commentators? I know the contributor is sort of the blog administrator and the visitors comment. Allyson, I agree with you in your doubt whether blogging is easily available to all our students or not. For a high number of students it still is something very elitist. Cherepaha, I listed all those roles because they are a social and personal identity, simultaneously vague and precise. It kind of sets a writing tone. Thank you dear course mates! You truly cheered me up about blogging. Now, what I have to do is to set a topic, or a theme to attract the ideas. I would like it to be wider than TESOL. That´s why I listed those roles and hoobbies.

This is me, Paula. I went to Lisbon Council house today, to pay my single and admiring tribute to José Saramago, the Portuguese novelist, Nobel prize winner, who died last Friday, the 18th June! Last year he had been saved from death by pneumonia because his wife, Pilar, asked the doctors to keep him alive so that he could finis his last book,"Caim". Saramago's books are not easy. You do need to concentrate. But then you're caught by the atmosphere and the thread of the narrative, which is attractively snaky, wavy. Nevertheless, his two latest books "A Viagem do Elefante" and "Caim" are of easier reading and they are shorter than the previous ones.
This last year, Saramago engaged in polemics because of the content of "Caim" in which he questions God's deeds and purposes. He claims that the religious spirit is restless and anxious because of the misunderstandings between man and god (without capital letter as he puts it in the book.)Saramago did not hide from the public. He willingly gave interviews to the media. His conversing style was as brilliant as the analysis of the world's issues he offered his listeners, viewers and readers. Thus he became our friend whom we trust, whom we consult. He did not waste a word. Not in speaking neither in writing. That´s why it is never a waste of time to listen to his voice repeatedly. His provocative style leads his readers to reevaluate taken for granted assumptions. Thank you José Saramago!
